I remember the I was accepted in the American University of Paris, my alma mater. I applied on a Friday and got accepted on Monday. From that Monday forward, I knew that I was moving to Paris. I put all of my energy into going - applying for visas, raising money and even getting a summer job as teacher in Atalanta. Ha, summer 2016 was a time.

I waited for my visa all summer to arrive and there was still no word. UNTIL, September 4, 2016; it came in the mail. It was such an emotional day because if the visa didn’t come that day, I wouldn’t have been able to start school until the next semester. When the package was delivered, I bought the one way ticket that day…

I made it to the airport on September 5, 2023 with an overweight bag. I was in such a rush that I opened my bag and gave all winter caots to my mom and hugged her tight. We both kept it cute in the airport lol no tears just the will to make it to the gate. I ran so fast to the gate and was the last person to board. I MADE IT! I put on my seat belt and thanked God and went to sleep. When I opened my eyes I was in Paris!

Over the last 7 years, I have transformed tremendously. I always tell people that I’ve had so many lives in this city. My first 2 years in Paris, I lived in a homestay, where you are able to live with a family, which was such a great descion. Now 7 years later, I have my own place.
